It takes me two hours to go through all the paperwork in the folder. As soon as I’m done, I stand up to stretch out my body. Liam left a while ago to walk the perimeter to get away from Meredith. She’s been talking up his ass after realizing I wasn’t going to be talking to her. I’m here for a job and that’s it. Unless it has to do with my girl.

Stretching out my body, I clean up the desk quickly and grab my phone from the top of it. Flynn called a few minutes ago to let me know Imogen had the babies and we can go see them anytime we’re ready. I’m debating about whether or not to take Peyton with me. However, the choice is going to be hers to make. She likes Imogen and I know my sister-in-law feels the same about her. They used to sit and talk when we were at their home so my girl wasn’t left alone for hours on end. Even if we all thought it best she have time to herself to recuperate. My end goal wasn’t to make her feel alienated from the rest of us. She just chose not to leave the room very much.

Leaving the office, I don’t bother saying a word to anyone. Moans and skin slapping fill the hallway as I make my way to our room while we’re here. Opening the door, I expect to hear the TV playing or see Peyton sitting up on the couch. What I don’t expect is to see her bundled under the covers on the bed. Walking over to her, she’s passed out. When I pull the blankets back so I can see her face, she doesn’t stir or move a muscle. Fuck!

Now I know why she was pale and looking the way she did when she entered the office. Peyton had a fucking panic attack and didn’t say a word about it to me. With Meredith up my ass, I’m not surprised to understand why she wouldn’t say a single thing other than letting me know the reason for her visit. So far, Liam and James have been the only other two to witness her playful side. Or hear her talk much more than what I absolutely need to know. Maybe Noah has, but we didn’t get a chance to have a sit down after getting word from Mr. X about my father putting a hit on all of us.

Brushing the hair out of her face, I kiss her temple gently. Still nothing from her. Leaving her a note about where I am, I place it on the stand next to her side of the bed hoping it’s the first thing she notices. When I leave the room, James is waiting patiently by the door to get his orders from me.

“Stay here with her please. I’m going to meet the newest members of our family and check in with Flynn. While you’re waiting for her to wake up, do some digging on that laptop of yours.
